Under the Act respecting the Ministère de la Justice  , the Minister of Justice is also:
- Attorney General of Québec and Notary General for Québec;
- Registrar of Québec;
- Legal adviser of the Lieutenant-Governor and the legal member of the Conseil exécutif du Québec.
The Minister is responsible for:
- the administration of the Act to establish a legal framework for information technology;
- the administration of the Consumer Protection Act;
- the application of the Professional Code and the acts constituting the professional orders;
- the administration of the Act respecting the flag and emblems of Québec;
- the fight against homophobia.
The Minister performs such other functions as are assigned by the Government, or are not assigned to some other Government department.
In addition, nine government bodies come under the Minister’s authority.
