Clerk

Clerk are justice officials who are responsible for the administration of a court. Among other tasks, clerk assure that the files submitted to the hearing are complete and comply with legislative requirements. They also perform various tasks related to the judicial proceeding. They record everything that takes place during the trial. They swear in the witnesses, registering names, addresses, and ages. They also receive the documents produced by the parties or the witnesses.

Clerk can, in certain cases, assume judicial powers. Clerk of the Superior Court carry the title of prothonotary.
