Locating information

The home page of the Justice website offers various ways to locate information within the site itself, and in sites maintained by other organizations working in the field of justice.

• Documents by Topic
  This heading presents information linked to various key lifetime events.
• Most Popular
  This heading provides direct access to the most frequently consulted topics.
• Search (Keyword)
  This tool can be used to locate information using common words or expressions.
• Search (Index)
  The index can be used to browse keywords in alphabetical order to identify the documents or definitions you need.
• Dynamic menu
  The dynamic menu is found to the left of all the pages on the site. It gives access to information specifically concerning the Ministère de la Justice.
• Site Map
  A button in the bar at the top of the Home Page gives access to the Site Map, which presents the various sections and pages of the site in the form of a table of contents.

Information on the Government of Québec, and on government departments and public and parapublic bodies, is accessible via the Portail du gouvernement du Québec .

Browsers

This website is designed for viewing by all the main browsers based on PC and Macintosh systems. The presentation may vary depending on the browser used, and some functions may have to be disabled on older browsers if they do not support certain new technologies.

The Ministère de la Justice is careful to respect the confidential nature of any information you upload. To ensure the security of electronic transfers of information via this website, you should use browser software with 128-bit encryption capability.

Screen Resolution

For best viewing, your screen resolution should be at least 800 x 600 pixels.

PDF Format

PDF format (Portable Document Format) is a universal file format which preserves the fonts, formatting, colours and images of the source document, regardless of the application or platform used to create it.

PDF files on the site can be viewed and printed using Adobe Reader, which is available free of charge from Adobe .

If you do not already have this software, it can be downloaded from the Adobe website. Once installed, Adobe Reader will run every time your browser recognizes a PDF file. Installation and configuration instructions for this software are available on the Adobe website.

Static PDF files
Static PDF files, identified by the icon , can be viewed and printed.

Dynamic PDF files
Dynamic PDF files, generally forms, are identified by the icon . These documents can be viewed, completed on-screen and printed. However, the Adobe Reader utility does not allow this data to be saved to your computer. You must have Adobe Acrobat if you want to save a completed form.

When you click on a link followed by the icon you will be taken to a different website. If the icon contains an acronym (such as ), you will be redirected to information provided by the body identified by the acronym and hosted on a different website.

When you access another site, you are no longer subject to the confidentiality agreement of the Ministère de la Justice. The contents of the linked sites are under the responsibility of other organizations, and are not necessarily endorsed by the Ministère de la Justice du Québec.
