The Act respecting equal access to employment in public bodies provides improved representation of women, aboriginal peoples, visible minorities and ethnic groups. Having come into force on April 1, 2001, the Act applies to all public bodies that employ 100 persons or more, including municipalities, school boards and health and social services institutions. The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, which is under the authority of the Minister of Justice, is responsible for the administration of the Act. The first chapter of the report focuses on the carrying out of the Act and the second, on the advisability of maintaining it in force or amending it.
