Recognition of pre-existing bonds of filiation
If authorized by the court, you can recognize the pre-existing bonds of filiation of the child you adopt. If you do so,
- the names of the biological parents may be added to your child's act of birth;
- your child's surname may include your surname along with the surname of the biological parents.
For example, if your surname is Tremblay and the surname of the biological parents is Bégin, your child may have the surname Tremblay-Bégin or Bégin-Tremblay.
