Fo Niemi is the co-founder of the Centre for Research-Action on Race Relations (CRARR). The CRARR plays an incomparable role in the promotion of access to equality for minorities in Québec. Among other realizations, the organism facilitated the launching of many programs for access to equality in government and private sector enterprises as well as undertaking several research projects with the same intention. Fo Niemi is a member of the Commission des droits de la personne du Québec and has volunteered his services in a large number of activities which promote the rights of minorities and facilitate their access to justice.

The 1995 Prix de la justice medal was presented to Fo Niemi by the Minister of Justice, Paul Bégin.
