Requesting a copy of a document filed at the court office
You may need to consult a document filed in a court record, such as the minutes of a hearing or a judgment, or perhaps view the file of the adverse party in your case. In such a situation you can request a copy of the documents concerned.
Any person who wishes to obtain a copy of a document filed in a record at the court office, including:
- the plaintiff;
- the defendant;
- the lawyer for either party.
To request a copy of a document filed at the court office, you must:
- complete the form Request for a copy of a document;
- submit the form at the appropriate office at the courthouse where the record was opened;
- pay the required fee.
Your request will be processed within 30 working days after you pay the required fee.
